Industrial Design Drafter Position/Greenfield, MA

SmallCorp manufactures picture frames and display cases to protect priceless works of art for museums, galleries and artists. Our products require thought, attention to detail, and quality workmanship, just like the art we aim to protect.

We have an opening for an industrial design drafter position.  A BS and 2+ years practical experience is preferred.  You must be able to  communicate effectively with clients and work in an open team environment. This position will support multiple departments – sales, customer service, purchasing, and manufacturing.

We are looking for a problem solver with the versatility to develop new solutions to our clients’ challenges.  The majority of the workload involves drafting renderings to support sales and creating mechanical drawings for manufacturing.  Our project steps frequently include conceptual design, testing/prototyping, manufacturing drawings, and follow-up revisions. We have standard designs, but we also make lots of unique items based on ideas and cocktail napkin sketches.

This position requires knowledge of woodworking and metal fabrication, and the machinery used in those processes.  Practical math skills such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions are critical.  Manufacturing experience is highly desirable.

Experience in Solidworks or AutoDesk Inventor is required.  Experience with SketchUp and the Adobe Creative Suite is also helpful.
