SP-8
Rigid, lightweight mounting solution for small artwork
The SP-8 is one of four archival, lightweight support panel options and is handmade to customer specifications or you could say to “your specifications”. Each panel has an aluminum skin on the front and back of a poplar frame with a lightweight aluminum honeycomb core. These panels are incredibly versatile and thus are frequently re-purposed. Our archival support panels are stable and will retain their size and will not warp, even with humidity and temperature fluctuations. This panel has an exposed wood edge and rear perimeter for mounting and tacking.
- Maximum size 18” x 20”
- .032” aluminum skin on face and .020” aluminum skin on back
- 1/4″ aluminum honeycomb core
- 1/2″ x 1-1/4″ poplar frame with step – exposed edge and rear perimeter for tacking or pinning
- Standard panels are not designed for use in a heat press. For that application, use the SP-A panels
- We offer additional internal poplar cross-members for mounting objects or cleats.
- We use a neutral-cure two-part epoxy in fabrication.

The aluminum skin is not intended as a finished display surface, but we can add a 20-point conservation rag board to the face or powdercoat the aluminum face.

Do you know the dimensions of the panel?
Panels are custom made to your specifications; we do not have standard sizes or inventory
Do you need the panel to have a paper face?
We offer an acid-free, lignin-free 20-point conservation rag board that can be adhered to the face.
Are you using the panel in a heat press?
Standard panels delaminate if used in a heat press. For that application, please use the SP-A panel.
