The B Case is a 100% archival museum case with a silica gel chamber below the removable deck. We offer standard designs, but we do not have standard sizes. We manufacture each case to your size requirements.
Archival materials
We use only inert materials for the B Case; it will not off-gas or otherwise damage your objects. Each B Case has microclimate capability. This means you can maintain a Relative Humidity inside the case that is different than that of the surrounding area. B cases typically have an air exchange rate between .75 and .5/day. We offer an optional external port that allows access to the silica gel chamber without the need to move your objects.
Vitrine
SmallCorp is well-known for the quality of our acrylic vitrines. On the B Case, you lift the vitrine to access your object. The vitrine sits on an archival gasket to create a seal. We manufacture museum quality acrylic vitrines from clear and UV filtering acrylic, and from Optium Museum Acrylic®.
Object Deck
The B case features a removable object deck. We offer several archival deck options. Our standard ODP deck consists of dibond and aluminum, wrapped in fabric. Our ethadeck uses the ODP deck as a base and includes a layer of pinnable ethafoam beneath the fabric. We also make object decks out of HDPE, expanded PVC and other materials. We offer standard fabrics or we can work with those that you specify.
Pedestal
We finish pedestals with latex paint, plastic laminate or wood veneer. Leveling feet and silica gel chamber are standard. The powdercoated aluminum collar captures the vitrine and accommodates the locking system. (We offer security screws or pneumatic locks.)
Archival Museum Case Options
B Cases may include interior or external label rails, and are frequently outfitted with LED lighting systems.
