Aluminum Honeycomb Panels

All panels have a.016 aluminum skin with a sealed poplar frame and an aluminum honeycomb core. Panels over 48” x 96” have pieced aluminum skins joined with an aluminum-to-aluminum bond to provide a continuous flat surface. The aluminum skin is not intended to be a finished display surface.

SP-2, SP-3 and SP-8 panels have an exposed wood edge on the back of the panels for attaching wrapped fabric. The paper on the SP-PF panels is 40 point conservation board.

All of the aluminum skin panels can have an additional lamination of museum board or fabric to the aluminum skin.

Other Aluminum Panels

Photo Mounting Panels (PMP) have a 40 point conservation board surface laminated to a ½” aluminum honeycomb panel. This panel is set into a 7/8” black powder coated outer frame, with the paper surface flush to the outer edge of the frame. The finished panel is smooth, stable and very lightweight. All components are acid free, lignin free and will not interact with the artwork. Photo mounting panels are also suitable for mounting other works on paper, including maps, drawings and documents, For panels without a paper face the maximum seamless width is 47 inches. The panels are made to order and priced by the square foot. The standard panel includes an internal hanging cleat.

The ODP Panel is a stable, archival mounting panel for textiles. It can also be used as the interior display deck in exhibit cases. There is no wood in this panel and it is well suited for storage and sealed display applications. The panel consists of an anodized aluminum outer frame with an inlaid aluminum/polyethylene sandwich sheet as the mounting/support surface. A 40 point archival paper face for mounting works on paper and photographs to the panel is optional. The ODP is available with 8mm polypropylene tack strips in the back channel for pinning backing fabric. Aluminum “Z” style hanging cleat sets are also available. The set consists of two pre-drilled 6” sections, and does not  include wall mounting hardware.

Textile Hanging Slat
Aluminum slats are used for hanging large and small textiles for display or storage. The standard slat is 3” wide x 1/8” thick with 2” wide hook Velcro on one side. The Velcro is adhered to the slat with a fully cured epoxy adhesive. Finish is white powder coat on slats up to 96”. Maximum slat length is 192”. Several slats may be combined for use with longer pieces. All Velcro slats have predrilled holes for attaching to a wall or mounting panel. Slats may also be ordered without Velcro and with keyholes for use in pocket hanging textiles.

Tube Slat
The tube slat is used for suspending textiles for display or storage when wall-mounting will not work. The tube slat consists of 3” x 1” or 2” x 1” rectangular aluminum tube with 2” wide hook Velcro adhered to one side with a fully cured epoxy adhesive. Standard finish is white powdercoat. Slats have holes in the top to accommodate customer-supplied suspension cables.

Hanging Cleat for Textile Slat
A hanging cleat is made from two bars of aluminum joined to form a pocket, which accepts the hanging slat. Lengths and finishes specifications are the same as the slat. It comes pre-drilled for attachment to a wall or mounting panel. These are particularly useful for pieces in study collections.

Archival Fluted Polypropylene Backing
SmallCorp Archival Polypropylene Backer (custom made for SmallCorp, our Natural Fluted Polypropylene is similar to Coroplast), is acid-free, neutral pH polypropylene with no dyes or additives. It is available in 4mm, 6mm and 8mm thicknesses in the sizes shown.

Small Tray
The SmallTray is a rigid, protective tray designed to support works of art in display frames or storage. When properly glazed and sealed it is archival, airtight, and water-resistant. Made from a rigid aluminum sandwich material with a polyethylene core, the standard tray has a white polyester coating inside and out. It is available in custom sizes up to 40” x 60” in depths from ¼” to 3”. We can also add Pressure Change Buffering Diaphragms and RH Indicators if you like.

Rolling Storage Carts
We manufacture sealed, mobile carts for the storage of mounted flags, maps, and textiles. Carts can accommodate our aluminum honeycomb panels, or your own mounts or trays. They feature powdercoated aluminum framing with 100% inert archival materials. Heavy-duty locking casters make the cart easy to move, yet stable when locked. These carts are made to order, so sizing is up to you.
